last weekend we quickly jetted over to san diego to celebrate our dear friend's bar opening, after months (years?) of preparation, their vision finally came to life. it was even better than i imagined! we had such a great time seeing our good friends and family. 

some highlights include – 3 trips to the quartyard in 2 days, late nights at el dorado, fancy drinks and plates of fries at polite provisions, brunch with the parrish fam, two beach sessions, turk! the cutest pooch in town, take out dinner by the fire place, and the beautiful warm weather we were graced with. can't wait for our next visit back to beautiful SD.

i love trying to squeeze a new york trip in every year, though we need to remember to schedule our next one for the spring or summer. after we touched down in the big apple we instantly froze, but it was of course worth it – getting to see our close friends, and explore new and old favorite nyc spots is always epic. 

some highlights include: brunch @ freemen's, coffee and souvenirs from saturdays surf, bagels @ russ and daughters, getting warm in williamsburg @ wythe hotel, getting warm back in the city @ the natural history museum, and a cozy dinner at rubirosa followed by late night dranks in the club @ le bain. {and then even later dranks @ hogs and heifers}. until next time, nyc!

9TH ANNUAL CHILI COOK OFF

a few weekends back was chili cook-off, hosted in my fav place in austin to hang out – the parking lot shared between hotel san jose and Jo's. they've hosted this event since 2005 to support non-profit groups addressing hunger issues locally. it's a great cause, the chili was delicious (i think "cream team" was my favorite), the music and two stepping was oh-so-texan, and the drinks at SJ were as refreshing as always. 

this *freezing* austin weather has me looking forward to SXSJ and spring jazz brunches starting tomorrow!
