after our little SA getaway we headed 30 miles west to visit the butts / cox families in boerne {bur-nee}... our last trip here was for thanksgiving. it is so beautiful and green and secluded out there and we had so much fun playing corn hole, catching sun in the perfect little pool, and sharing a few very delicious home-cooked meals with great people. and next time we see them, a little baby boy will be part of the party. can't. wait.

this weekend we spent an evening in san antonio and i honestly can't wait to get back. 

some highlights / must dos if you're ever in the area include:
stay @ hotel havana – one of liz lambert's boutique hotels – you'll immediately feel like you're on vacation. the decor / music / vibes make your mind think this is out the window, not downtown SA. 

the bar downstairs, ocho, is along the riverwalk {the pretty, not-crazy, part of the riverwalk} and is known for their tasty tequila or rum cocktails. we leisurely drank here until dinner time...

when we lived in san francisco it made much more sense to own multiple blankets and quilts and cozy things – because it was always cold. now that we're in austin it is harder for me to justify purchasing anything else that is "warm and cozy". this has been hard for me to grasp – so lately i just admire them from afar.

last friday we had our annual summer boat party to celebrate mcj's 18th birthday on lake travis. initially i thought drinking in my swimsuit with coworkers might be weird – but it most certainly was not weird. it was awesome and we had a great time. after a long day in the sun we finished our day with drinks at handlebar and dinner at contigo. i'm happy the following day was saturday.

last wednesday was the final blues on the green for the season – before heading to zilker we had dinner at the cute little cantina, el alma. i love their rooftop. when we arrived at the concert it was really crowded and really hot, so we decided to mosey over to barton springs to confirm the rumor that they were open until 10pm free of charge (it's true!). even better, you can still here the music from the cold water. it was the perfect summer evening – can't wait to swim under the moonlight again soon.

up on a sketchy side street off manor road is a little food truck + bar combo that is so delicious and perfect. the live music and festive decor makes for such a fun atmosphere to enjoy some of the best italian food in austin – we ordered two simple pastas, meatballs, the house salad, and garlic bread – and of course left feeling plump and happy. we loved it so much that we're going back tonight with some friends – i highly recommend! cheers.

we've happily had an extremely mild summer here in austin – but it's finally getting hot. real hot. like – it's not that fun to be outside hot. this has inspired us to seek out pools and swimming holes any chance we get. last weekend we finally explored jacob's well and blue hole in wimberly and can't wait to get back! while both spots were obviously crowded, we loved jumping and rope swinging over and over into the cool blue water.

two of our dear friends just had some milestone birthdays – and what better way to celebrate them than with all of our friends at one of the most classic austin mexican spots – gueros. we had one too many silver train margs, beers, and bowls of queso (real and cake version). i'm also shocked we got this many people to wear hats the whole night.
