I've gone off the baking deep end. But, I saw this recipe in my daily-blog-browse and just ... had to make them. Bon appetit!
Friday was spent catching up with Elise and Kelly in the Marina ... I have missed these hilarious and fun dinners! Saturday weather was the best its been in a while -- sunny and warm (ish). Our day was spent in Dolores Park -- playing paddle ball thanks to Merriment Hardware, snacking and drinking thanks to Bi-Rite, and enjoying the amazing people and dog watching this park has to offer. The night ended with rooftop happy hour and banana bread. Love days like these.

the ladies of gqp are going to try hard to make "ferry building friday" a new ... thing
a nice walk, usually sunny weather, and blue bottle. what more could you ask for mid-work-day?
in addition to f.b.f ... we had a fun afternoon happy hour using our new careless whispers mugs gifted from a client.

happy friday !

I love nights at nook. It is so cozy and one of nob hill's finest gems (second to le beau market). While it is not the same without callie and our hump day happy hours ... I still try to get back often for salad sandy swaps and their amazing deals on wine.
Last night I made shortbread cookies (one of my all time favorites) dipped in dark chocolate, with a touch of sea salt sprinkled on top. I had help from this recipe, however I used powdered sugar in addition to granulated, dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet, and the savory addition of salt on the chocolate side. Bon appetit!

It was a great game ... up until it was a horrible game. We had fun though -- eating snacks, drinking (i had some of our wine from scribe), lighting a fire, and later watching the second half at the hyde out.

Friday night was rainy. Really rainy. Saturday was christmas-present-day. We had our usual favorite for breakfast, Farm:Table, followed by a trip to Heritage Salvage in Peteluma to get wood for Merriment Hardware. The sun magically came out for an afternoon at Scribe Winery -- words can't really explain what a memorable time we had here. We drank up an appetite and went for lunch at Fremont Diner in Sonoma (another insanely delicious place that words can not explain). Later, we went to our home for the night (thank you airbnb) in Muir Woods which was simply perfect. So many days spent in Muir Woods... but never nights... it was a delight to have dinner at Pelican Inn, sleep with the rain, the mountains, and cook my (in)famous Huevos Rancheros.
A perfect present and bay area staycation!

I think i'm just going to start try it tuesday back at #1 after last night. It has been inconsistent lately, because we try restaurants on many other nights as well, however try it tuesday is back in action every 3 weeks! Last night we went to Bar Jules in Hayes Valley ... it had a very homey vibe, with great food. After dinner we had a quick coffee at The Grove to escape the cold and sit by the {fake} fire.

What amazing things you can do with one extra day added onto your weekend. Thank you MLK. Monday we woke up and made our own version of breakfast pizza, inspired by this recipe (we added tomatos, gruyere cheese, cilantro, arugula, and peppers). It was ... literally ... amazing. Very proud of our final product. Later we went to Muir Woods for a hike and lunch at Mountain Home Inn. The weather was just how we like it... sunny but freezing.

In my continued efforts to become a more advanced baker.... I attempted some banana bread this weekend. I now have much more respect for bread makers, as this was a very tricky, time consuming and detail oriented project, but the final product turned out pretty tasty. I followed this recipe, with a few tweaks to make it my own -- *adding cinnamon, nutmeg, and home made candied walnuts*. What a great weekend treat ! Bon appetit.
