most people get the heck out of dodge on sunday morning -- however we were in vegas for another day. the sun was shining, the air was crisp and chilly, and we wanted to be off the strip. after catching up on sleep, we decided to rent a car and drive to red rock national reserve {read about here}. it was absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth the ~45 minute drive.


it was too windy and cold to do the hike we had originally planned on, so we made way to the old school fremont street. we stopped at golden gate casino (obviously) where i turned $5 into $65 -- holy smokes! i was proud. i really enjoyed the $3 tables over the $25 tables. but that's just me. 


later that night i threw my winnings on black, and doubled them (seriously, what's happening?) -- so, kp and i used the free moolah to have a date night. we had a fabulous dinner at morels, followed by some gelato and a walk along the canals in venice. i mean the venetian. it was a cute little last day in vegas?

to reunite with my favorite ohioans we planned a random little trip to sin city -- it was so great to get everyone together again, being that the last time was for the wedding and that was all just a really big (but really fun) blur.

our first 2 days were pretty vegas-y, if you know what i mean. we had a night at the club, that turned into an up-all-night-chicken-fingers-for-breakfast type of thing. we slept for a few hours and were back up for brunch @ mon ami gabi. the classic bills casino (soon to be RIP) and naps followed, before a hilariously fun dinner at sage and our show at the aira. the rest of our night was spent losing and then winning and then losing money.

sadly the next morning we lost half of our crew {we missed you guys!} which lead us into our outside the box day in vegas....

you can get hopped up on caffeine pretty easily in this town with all the amazing coffee around. there are also boat loads of breweries and specialty cocktail spots. which means – not only did we eat a lot. we drank a lot, too. but in a very classy and somewhat reserved manner.

some highlights include: rum club, rontoms, mcmenamins kennedy school, KASK, benson hotel, clyde common, stumptown coffee, extracto coffee... ahh, and more.  cheers!

a cozy night in the benson hotel, and a quick stop to watch the 49ers game. going to the super bowl! 
^^ unfortunately i didn't have the camera this night, however we had a great time with zoe at the kennedy school. each room of the once elementary school is now a little bar. you can wander the halls with a beer and just explore or take a seat in the various rooms, with clever names like "detention" or "honor room". i really enjoyed this unique place!

it seemed like all we did was eat -- but we actually did some serious exploring as well. my favorite times were really just wandering the streets in some of the cutest little neighborhoods. portland has so much character  and every neighborhood has something unique to offer. much like sf!

we tried to get into the show portlandia before our trip, however it was just too ridiculous. but, kinda spot on? friday afternoon we flew north to have a weekend of relaxing, eating and drinking, and more eating. kp aka best traveler partner made reservations at some freakin' dee-lish places.

highlights include:
le pigeon, tasty and sons, roe -- sushi speakeasy, beast, bunk, and pokpok.
