nau's has been in clarksville since 1951 which is straight up nuts. it's famous for their original full service drug store, soda fountain, milk shakes, and delicious burgers. we finally took the time to sit down in the diner and i'm so happy we did – everything was just as delicious as you'd imagine. i'm sure i'll be here for milkshakes and burgers too often.

i've decided that floating the river is REALLY fun only if you do it every couple years. while i loved every minute of it – floating and drinking all day long can get rather exhausting. 

our day started with brunch @ waltons before hitting the road to new braunfels. we jam-packed our coolers and carried a few water proof cameras along {pictures from those later} and spent the next 3+ hours slowly {like snail slow} drifting down the guadalupe. afterwards we showered up and hit gruene for dinner. i'd like to spend more time in this cute little town. after dinner we headed back to whitewater where we saw cory morrow / pat green sing their hearts out. it was the most perfect texan day.

a few weeks back i talked about two of my favorites – clark and josephine. some of my other austin love birds {all part of mcguire hospitality) are elizabeth st cafe and jeffery's.

last week i had a cozy rainy dinner with my life long bestie over champagne, spring rolls, and macaroons. it was bittersweet because we had so much fun catching up, but realized we needed about 20 more dinners to really catch up. i suppose we'll just need to plan a few trips soon....

saturday morning in michigan we woke up to the craziest sunrise – the picture below is what we saw from bed. i could really get used to that. 

the rest of our day was dedicated to the lake {by way of pontoon boat} – we sipped rose, stopped for crab cakes at the knot, played hilarious games on the porch, did some girly bachelorette things, and ended the night with epic dinner and dancing. take me back now, please.

last weekend was spent celebrating my dear friend callie 's engagement at our other dear friend's home in michigan. i've been dreaming of spending a weekend with these two in michigan ever since we all met in college. it was even lovelier than i imagined. some highlights from our first two days include – 

the most delicious cinnamon rolls you've ever tasted, wine tasting at 4 epic vineyards {by way of trolly car}, multiple rounds of bocci, lots of champagne appropriately named "sex", pizza making, a cozy dinner at home, s'mores by the campfire, lots of laughing, and a whole lot more. really wishing we were all still there ...

last year we argued that the 5th of july might be more fun than the 4th {something about the holiday being on a weekend and all the stress has died down so you can really just let loose?} – i don't know, but i would say this year felt pretty similar. we spent our day relaxing, shooting {only at targets and we were very safe}, swimming, cooking / eating {with a few more additions to our crew} and finishing off the rest of our fireworks. it was such a simple and perfect day.

counter cafe is one of those places you drive by daily and think "i should go there one day?" – last week it was finally time. we set our alarms extra early to treat ourselves to a pre-work breakfast and were not disappointed. i loved the cozy diner vibes, the grill right infront of us, and our tasty blueberry pancake + breakfast sandwich combo.

on the morning of 4th of july we were watching the world cup plan-less. we had accepted our no-plans and were ok with the fact that our holiday might be spent swimming in a baby pool. last minute we were kindly invited to a dear friend's ranch out in blanco and ended up having the most epic weekend. friday was spent whipping up these cocktails, stopping for pepitos and sparklers, floatin, swimmin, fishin, grillin, and all those things people do on ranches. it was the perfect way to celebrate our wonderful country.

happy friday and happy fourth of july! 2 years ago we were celebrating this holiday in vancouver {which in hindsight was not very patriotic of us}. on our trip we came to love a little shop called old faithful. the owners {and their dog} were so pleasant we left wanting to be friends with them. and the shop! everything inside was take-home-able. thank heavens for their online store so i can continue to swoon even back in the US.
