wow. this trip has been on our radar for months now, however i truly had no idea what it would entail.  thursday night we headed up to yosemite to stay the night @ hotel charlotte and enjoy karaoke at the iron door saloon. friday morning started early as we made way to the park. around 9am we abandoned the car and were on our journey to nelson lake. the hike took almost the whole day, as we went off trail to get to this destination. what felt like a never ending up hill battle was definitely worth it when we arrived at our peaceful home for the next 2 days. pictures certainly do not do it much justice -- but i will definitely remember this trip forever! video to come soon...

thank you to GWPR for sharing how TiT began with me and callie! last night we went to a restaurant in lower haight called maven. we sat at the bar, which is becoming our new fav spot, and enjoyed very interesting cocktails. mine was bourbon infused with pistachio?! random, but totally my kind of bev. the food here was great -- light, fresh, tasty, unique -- and we had fun trying about 6 different little small plates. afterwards we stopped at a classic haight st bar, toronado, for a franziskaner night cap. bon appetit!

sunday morning we went to our favorite sf breakfast spot {farm:table} to check out their new parklet -- such a great addition! The rest of the day was filled with errands and prep for our trip to yosemite next weekend. rei is such a trap for people like me. (i mean, who wouldn't want this?) that evening we had a celebratory dinner @ umami burger (ugh. yum.) -- we obviously incorporated the scallop burger to keep up with our sunday seafood tradition. we also splurged on the ice cream sandys. bon appetit!

friday night was spent at the IMAX watching batman -- holy smokes -- it was fun. on the way home we stopped at a teeny tiny bar (ironically called big) that put a whole lot of love into their cocktails. this made for a perfect and very unique night cap. saturday was spent at fort mason park and later supporting mh at renegade. for dinner we enjoyed the nice weather by dining outside @ delfina, followed by drinks at hi-lo club. so happy to have this new spot on polk!

this weekend was mostly spent sick on my sofa. it was sad. the highlights were:  family dinner on saturday night at velvet cantina (mmmm).... and relaxing while enjoying pecan crusted halibut for seafood sunday dinner. we were inspired by this recipe -- with some mild tweaks (we didn't use cream). bon appetit and happy monday!

we really.. really (really) loved vancouver. it was the perfect mix of everything i love -- mountains, sunshine, water, and good food. (and, well, so much more). we hit a mild speed bump on the way there by taking the wrong train -- whoops -- but finally arrived thursday evening for a lovely seawall bike ride. our airbnb apartment quickly started to feel like home, as we spent most of our time in the gastown area. i will definitely go back one day. 3 days was just not enough!

some highlights include:
bon appetit: la abbatoir (with dinner pastries!). meat and bread. bao bei (chinese food, french chef, japanese plating style, cocktails galore -- holy smokes!). le marche st. george.
sante: revolver coffee. diamond. vancouver urban winery. alibi room. 
explorer: old faithful. spanish banks. stanley park. third beach. grouse grind (um). public market.
