quebec city is a little frenchy town about 2 hours north of montreal. our drive in was beautiful – streets were covered in yellow flowers, endless cotton fields, and plenty of cows and goats and horses. some highlights from our time spent here include:

our cozy little apartment {and it's owner, jef} , wandering the streets and finding gems around every corner {the oldest epicerie in QC}, a hilarious dance party at la cuisine, two incredible dinners, one spent here – and the other we'll remember for a life time l'affaire est ketchup.

JACQUES CARTIER NATIONAL PARK {QUEBEC}

after a 12 hour trip getting to canada {we flew to vermont and drove from there}, we were ready to breathe some fresh air and use our legs. our first day in quebec city was spent doing just that – exploring park national jacques-cartier. unfortunately the water was too high for kayaking {i had been dreaming of this picture), and there were no moose to be seen – however, we had so much fun hiking in such serenity. we didn't run into another human on the trail ... just a snake and frog.
^^ afterwards we drove back into town for lunch at nina pizza napolitaine a spot that had been recommended to us by a few locals – it did not disappoint. it was a perfect day to kick off our trip!

one of the many perks of living in your hometown is being able to hang at your mom's house! and that's how we spent all sunday afternoon / evening. we soaked up some vitamin d, {did laundry} swam laps, and enjoyed the company of our visitors – eric and alma {all the way from switzerland!} so happy to be close to family again.

after our last trip to reimer ranch we were mildly obsessed, especially with this not-too-hot weather we've been having – a little private beach with a cold river to swim and float in? with snacks and drinks? helllllo. this is where we spent all of saturday, followed by an afternoon of delicious pizza from stanley's farmhouse {climbing the ranks as my favorite pizza in austin} ... it was a perfect summer day.

we recently discovered fresa's – which is sad, because it's right around the corner from our house and we should have gone way earlier. {oh well}. imagine the yummiest grab and go/take-out place you've ever been to (there is no where to sit and eat at the actual spot). 

friday evening we picked up dinner {kale salad + tacos + to go beers} and brought it up to mt. bonnell for sunset. looking over lake austin made us rather antsy to get out on the water this summer. i'd really like to do this more often. hope you all had a great weekend, happy monday!

mothers day in redondo was too fun – we compiled a great little group of friends / moms / moms to be on our airbnb patio with breakfast burritos and champagne. we later wandered down to the beach for ice cream and a dip in the ocean before we had to leave for the airport. so happy we were able to see everyone !

last weekend we took a quick 48 hour trip to LA for a number of reasons –

1. it was mothers day and we wanted to spend it with lorna p
2. kp missed the ocean
3. we missed our friends
4. bry got married !!

while the trip flew, we packed in a bunch of activities making the weekend feel long and relaxing. friday night was spent catching up over drinks and popping around bars with our luggage in hand. saturday was spent beaching and surfing and enjoying some sweet cali burritos for lunch. we later took naps at our beach-side airbnb and spent the rest of the evening at the beauty-ful pvgc for the lovebird's wedding

last weekend we relived meet the fockers and survived! aka the first parrish / monney / harris feast. it was cute. prior to a delicious dinner at martha's, we stopped at hula hut  to get a drink by the water. little did we know we were about to witness one of the most epic kid vs. fish battles of all time –

a group of cute little dudes were fishing with french fries (a now proven wise bait choice) and ended up catching a massive carp. after 30 minutes of struggling to get him out of the water, we ended up with the photo below. such a fun evening.

we were on a strong stint of bbq and schnitzels and all kinds of meat lately and felt we were in need for a vegetarian dinner. this month's issue of bon appétit  had so many delicious looking options i struggled to choose, and finally ended up making skillet bruschetta, artichokes, and roasted carrots {i added a sprinkle of dill on these for a little added flavor}. was so thrilled with how this meal turned out, and it was mega easy. enjoy!

i love freedmen's so much, and it gets overlooked in my opinion {i like it that way there is usually never a wait}. they have great cocktails, an extremely cozy interior, an even cozier back patio, and the bbq is awesome. i think what i love most is how they serve you – it's not your typical meat overload you typically see, just a clean pleasant little tray of happiness. happy wednesday!

fredericksburg.

last weekend we had the parrish rents in town – their first time to austin! we welcomed them with a festive happy hour on the patio of clarks, followed by a night of music and dancing at don's depot. we realized we need to go to this bar more often...

the next day cp + sharon were nice enough to drive us to fredericksburg, a little german town about 2 hours outside of austin that we've been wanting to explore. we had a great time popping around sipping beer, eating schnitzels, and checking out william chris vineyad. texas wine can be hit or miss, but we were pleasantly surprised by this spot. we'll definitely be back!

leaving monday morning was the best decision we made for this trip – it made our sunday so stress free and effortless. the wait for "easter brunch" was a whopping 1.5 hours {after a 30 minute line to even put our name down!!), so picked up beignets & bloodys for the park while we waited. time flew. 

later we conquered the town on foot starting @ one of the craziest cemeteries i've ever seen. afterwards we made stops at spitfire espresso bar, pat obriens to *split* a hurricane, the country club, and lastly bacchanal where we sat for hours sipping multiple bottles of wine, slowly ordering the entire menu, and listening to some live country tunes.
