i've started to realize that the best way to learn your way around a city is by either walking or biking – i've never been good with directional instincts. even though i grew up here in austin, i'm still learning the ins and outs of this new neighborhood we're calling home. saturday was spent exploring the hood on our bikes, and later cruising streets with crazy amazing houses.
that night we had something to celebrate – my sis is our new neighbor! and while i accidentally forgot my camera to her party {i was distracted by snapping pics of our little pre cocktail party}, we had a great time celebrating her move with old and new friends, and closing out the night with a drink down the street at jeffery's, one of our new favorite neighborhood bars.

^^ the palomaesque – i haven't always been a mezcal lady, but this changed everything.
happy monday !
this week austin shut down because of the below. we're a bunch of snow and ice wimps around here. i took the opportunity to embrace the "snow day" by whipping out my crock pot and making white bean chili. this stuff is healthy, delicious, and makes your house smell like you've been slaving all day. when really you've been ... not .. doing that. i also tried a new banana bread recipe {i was turning into a one trick pony with this one. don't get me wrong, it is also a winner.}
both turned out to be the perfect thing for a warm cozy night in.
pho is one of the best things ever. and weirdly enough i've started liking it for breakfast ...
typically, elizabeth st cafe is packed with long lines and hour waits. but – monday was a holiday and people weren't feeling like brunch i guess. we got a seat at the bar and were in love with the colorful scenery and unique menu {french vietnamese}. can't wait to come back here soon.
