saturday was spent exploring a few new places we often heard/read about – starting with lunch at tamale house on east 6th. it was so simple and delicious and cute. i will eat here often. afterwards we popped into east austin succulents to get a few things for our little teeny tiny "front porch". what a gold mine...

last week we saw a crap ton of live music and it was glorious. we started with lord huron on tuesday night with my sis @ emos – the band is one of my favs, however that venue is kinda massive for my liking.

later that week we teamed up with martha + jc for dinner at bufalina {the rave reviews were right, this place rocks}, followed by dr. dog at stubbs outdoor venue – one of the best spots for live tunes in my opinion. afterwards we crossed the street and braved the long lines for even more music at cheer up charlies. once the crowds die down this bar might become one of my favorites.

^^ cheer up used to be on the east side, however they've recently moved to red river.

the new location is pretty rad with the rocks and the lights and... well, yeah. go check it out.

three day weekends are the best. some highlights from *last* sunday include –

brunch at epicerie, beers next to the train tracks at AGBG, more beers on lake austin at weird & quirky hula hut, tasty cocktails at midnight cowboy, dinner at backspace, and finally some live music at mohawk. other lovers were amaaazing. we ended our day with the soft opening of cheer up charlies' new location.

after we took friends to la bbq a few weeks ago i was kind of obsessed. the music, free beer, and crazy good food is worth the long wait. it also tee's you up for a fun afternoon on the east side with spots perfect for {more} live music, coffee, and plenty of vitamin d absorption.

^^ that night we bruised up our legs on an impromptu mechanical bull ride, and later tried a new bar on rainey, half step, which is one of the only spots in the area with actual craft cocktails.

friday was spent touring austin by bikes – we made obvious stops at places like mellow johnny's, and torchy's, followed by a ride by way of the hike and bike trail to the east side for lunch at hillside farmacy. we enjoyed the weather afterwards having a beer from quickie pickie at the picnic tables nearby. the long afternoon ended with a pick me up at flattrack coffee and finally home for j+j's first game of stump.

valentine dinner was spent at the best pizza place ever, 313 – really, the best i've ever had. afterwards we got busy bar hopping. we started with weather up, volstead, east side showroom, karaoke, and from here it starts to get a bit blurry. there were corndogs involved.
