on three day weekends you get to have two saturdays – le fun. our day started at my new favorite local bakery, flour and co. i'm a little obsessed with this place. we stocked up on hearty bacon-stuffed-somethings and headed north for our hike in pt. reyes. this hike {also seen here} is truly the perfect combination of tough and rewarding {you're like "ugghhh, my legs" but then you're like "is that a sting ray i see swimming in the crystal clear water?"}...  see photos for proof ...

by 2pm we had hiked up an appetite for an afternoon at hog island oyster company in tomales bay. rose, fresh oysters {like just out of the bay fresh}, cheese plates, and sunshine made of the perfect afternoon.

our night was spent on polk with my sweet v + s visiting from denver. so great to see you guys! we shared a few cocktails, games of buck hunter, and of course i took them to bob's for a true sf treat.

oakland is to sf as brooklyn is to nyc? i was always good at analogies. kind of. anyway, saturday was spent doing some more exploring across the bay bridge at places like OSC, linden brewery, and an amazing little pizza joint boot and shoe. it was a beautiful day to just walk around, buy some open air plants, and drink beer.

later that night jake and dad made everyone a delicious home cooked meal using the fire escape grill and a great recipe from men's magazine. we took our full-of-bison-bellies and spent our night drinking whisky at nihon, and listening to some live music at royal cuckoo. a great little saturday – cheers!

a few weeks back we spent a crisp sunny day on the roof devouring blue barn and listening to devendra banhart's new album. he was an artist i was not familiar with at the time, but i quickly grew to love him.

as luck would have it, he graced with his presence here in sf tuesday night at the regency ballroom – i personally love this venue – it is very roomy, beautiful and convenient. being near polk street, our night also consisted of hi-lo club, hemlock, and bob's. always fun to be out on a school night.


and when we got home, foster pups consumed the rest of our night.

this year b2b happened to fall the day after we returned from operation zen. waking up at 7am and pounding coors light just did not sound like the proprer way to ease back into "the real world". instead, we chose to park ourselves at mojo cafe to watch the hilariousness go by – we had fun commenting on the creative costumes while absorbing the beautiful weather sf kindly provided. we'll be back in the action next year, b2b!


we later had an awesome brunch at one of our favorites locals corner, followed by picking up some new plants at the warehouse {how many plants can one person own?}, a tasty home cooked dinner, and a night full of foster puppies.

i'm sure a lot have you have been wondering where i've been the past week. don't worry, i was just getting a little r&r in kauai and boy do i feel refreshed. there aren't really words to describe how loving this trip was – other than a day of rain and a wallet gone MIA, it was kinda le perf.  kp martha and jc – you made my 25th birthday unforgettable.

some highlights include:
mermaid cafe, kileau fish market – for lunch, and for fish shopping {to later grill} at our hanalei home. tunnels beach. hanakapi'ai falls. fresh popsicles. our jeep wrangler. daily acai bowls. our patio in the garden. the most amazing yoga session. hilarious encounters at the blue room. "epic surf sessions" for kp. epic laying on the beach sessions for me. frescobol. chichis by the pool, a surprise dinner at postcards...
