alright folks. we've got 25 more days to really juice this wonderful time. below are a few photos to show how we're preparing at the apartment. that little tiny tree has lasted me three christmas'! 


in other news, my life has new meaning. trader joe's finally opened 1 block away, after they've been teasing us about it for over a year. it is the most amazing. thing. ever. happy friday!!

on the back end of thanksgiving we headed down to san diego to stay with jg. i have only been to sd once-- so i really enjoyed being back to explore. we had such a fun {and funny} time staying at jason's cute little house. some of the highlights include: cucumber mezcal cocktails, noodle house, fig tree cafe, the chargers game (which actually turned out to be a great one) --  mission brewery {in the old wonder bread factory. so frickin cool}, carnitas snack shack {literally ate ourselves sick. but so good}, yogurt land!, and of course the tour of the architecture school. hard getting back to the real world....

this year i spent thanksgiving in southern california. while i did miss my family very much -- i had such a wonderful time sharing the holiday with the long beach gang. our time was mostly spent on the beach, eating amazing food,  lounging by the fire, playing multiple games of big 2 on cp's back patio, celebrating kp's birthday over thai (crying tiger omg), enjoying the farmers market -- and later cooking fish tacos, and so much more. thank you to the parrish family for having me :)

saturday night we went to one of our favorites in the mission, beretta. this place never fails -- the food is always epic, the cocktails always crafty, and the scene always the-place-to-be. the pouring rain out every window was icing on the cake.


sunday started early to celebrate kp's 27th. we had coffee at matching half cafe while we waited for nopa to open. i was stoked, being the first in line and all... but apparently even that doesn't get you a table? ugh. these sf hot spots are so hard to keep up with. this is why we rarely make it to brunch. 

we waited a little over an hour and were feeling rather content with our bloody marys and company. after the amazing (and well worth the wait) breakfast, we slowly walked over to hayes valley for the biergarten and treats from miette. 





for a special birthday edition of seafood sunday we got king crab (they are in season, ya know). being that it was pre-cooked, we heated these puppies up in boiling water and paired with delicious garlic butter and sweet potatoes. for dessert i made a parrish family fav -- banana nut cake with cream cheese frosting. gah i love birthdays.

again, with the side tracked. i blame the holidays! i also blame the fact that you can apparently run out of space on blogger? but we're all good now. don't worry.




there was a weekend full of food and rain a few weeks back. kinda starting to become a tradition? we had a sister in town and a birthday boy, so we were able to justify two nights at snazzy little spots. friday we went to lolinda -- a new argentinian restaurant in the mission. it really reminded us of something that would be in new york because of its huge, yet intimate feel.

we had a great time trying many dishes, cocktails, and of course ending with three desserts. bon appetit!

i haven't forgotten about blogging. i just got a little side tracked.  


i think many would agree that hyde street was in dire need of elephant sushi. don't get me wrong, hyde is like..... le best street in sf. however, we just needed a fun hip place to "pop in" to every now and then. the vibe is perfect, the space is small and intimate, and the sushi is delicious. i will definitely be back here. bon appetit!

sunday morning started with an amazing little breakfast by the fire; oh so pleasant. next we took the boon bikes for a ride over to armstrong state park (full of redwoods!) ... and explored the park for a bit. the colors were insane. before we went back to the city we did some last minute relaxing by the pool, and stopped at big bottom market for sandwiches. my gah were they delicious.

the drive home was gorgeous and so peaceful -- highlights from later include loving cup and 007 at kabuki. perfect sunday.
