earthquake!

 i finally made it to the academy of sciences. saturday afternoon i met with brooke and amelia @ blue barn for lunch (never gets old), followed by a trip to golden gate park for baby ostriches and shake rooms. we got to experience the sf earthquake from 1906 (kind of) -- and enjoyed seeing the aquarium, albino gator, and much much more. the afternoon was pleasantly spent on a pac-heights-back-patio, followed by a home cooked dinner and night in.

wow! i fell off the map for a second. sorry about that. last friday night we tried the new bourbon and branch spot, trad bar. it was great -- yet very similar to its brother and sister bars (b&b, rickhouse).
they serve "traditional" (aka trad) american spirits and cocktails, in a rustic underground setting. read more here...

last night we had the first anual summer solstice celebration {aka longest day of the year} at kristin and amelias ... it was too much fun. they whipped up a fabulous barbecue dinner {complete with balsamic glaze} that we paired with wine beer and cookies -- mmm. can't wait for winter solstice. bon appetit!

this week we went to st. vincent in the mission {taking over the former "heart" wine bar}. we enjoyed the dinner, no doubt, however nothing about it really blew us away. the wine, atmosphere, and food were all great quality, though! after dinner we walked to xanath ice cream for a delicious cone, and ended the night with an espresso at revolution cafe. happy hump day!

this past weekend kp and i went to austin to celebrate jc's 60th {he doesn't look a day over 40}. we had the best time at home seeing family + friends, meeting new people, and most importantly celebrating jc. there was also time spent at jo's, stag, taverna, barton springs, sno beach, the oasis, and more... 
many thanks to martha and jc for having us out to celebrate. miss everyone already. love you!

after much anticipation, we finally made it to uchiko when we arrived in austin on friday night. we were more than impressed and delighted by the experience. the quality of fish, service, and atmosphere were some of the best i've seen {especially in austin}. 3 was the perfect number for sharing all kinds of unique dishes. afterwards, we ended the night on rainey street for lonestars and laughs.

im not sure why we don't eat at pizzeria delfina on filmore more often. its so close, so delicious, and they let you drink wine on the street while you wait. last night martha and i went for dinner and enjoyed the tricolore salad, the prosciutto/arugula pizza, and goat cheese + strawberry gelato for dessert.

well, we've actually already been to local's corner for brunch, however we had never tried it for dinner. we thought it was the perfect place to bring martha while she was in town for work *healthy and light*. we could not have been more pleased. the portions are just the right size, and so full of creativity and flavor.

this past weekend kicked off the many weddings we have scheduled for 2012. and it was a great start! we went stand up paddle boarding (an activity i've wanted to do for a while now), spent the rehearsal dinner on the water (duffys for everyone!), swam in the bay, absorbed the sunshine, danced our hearts out, cheers'ed, toasted, convertabled, bbq'd and so much more. it was so great to catch up with kp's friends and family. congrats to dov and the babe, and many thanks to lorna, craig, and sharon!
