this past weekend we headed south for a little sunshine and family time. it was a quick trip – however it was so nice to hang with the parrish fam.
i say this every time, but – i really should use my crock pot more often. it is just so dang easy. last week i picked up a picnic pork shoulder from fatted calf, with plans to make some carnitas using left over tortillas/salsa from seafood sunday.
that night i covered the pork with a little make shift rub and let sit over night. the next morning i filled the crock pot with 1 lagunitas IPA, 1 white onion, and about 1/4 bottle of bbq sauce. i cooked that puppy on low while i was at work, and by the time i was home the meat was falling apart with a fork.
last week we reverted back to one of the OG seafood sunday meals – ahi tacos. i've missed these little suckers, something about the mango and avacado {and the in-season heirloom tomatoes, for that matter} just give it such a summery taste.
earlier that day we took lindz around the city to some of our favorite spots: flour and co, salumeria, the biergarten, voyager, and welcome stranger. sometimes it is just nice to wander the city with no real plans.
last weekend we had my sis in town for the first time in a while. it was so nice to have her back in the city now that i've really got my groove here. we quickly took her from the airport to tipsy pig for their classic strawberry fields, followed by dinner at one of my marina favs – delarosa. friday i sent her to sausalito while i was at work – followed by a little ladies night in the NOPA area. dinner at nopalito, drinks at mojo, and a walk through alamo square {hello, painted ladies!} made for a great little sister night.
pizzaiolo in oakland may be my new favorite restaurant ever. that's right – i said ever. a few weeks back on our way in from tahoe, we made a little pit stop... little did we know that it happened to be the place we always walk by and say "we neeeeeed to go there". win! the outdoor patio, colorful decor, quality of the food {and the creativity}, combined with the amazing wine and cocktails made for the perfect afternoon.
